Using Scripture to Support Your Vision

It has become clear to me the importance of using God's promises to support the vision for your life.
In the book of Jeremiah, God sends us the best example of how He shows us our purpose in life and fulfills it. When Jeremiah received the vision of His purpose from God, God asked Him to confirm what He was seeing. After God verified that Jeremiah was seeing His Will correctly, the Lord said to Him, "Good eyes! I'm sticking with you. I'll make every word I give you come true." (Jeremiah 1:1-12 MSG)
After we create our vision for our lives, we must confirm through God's Words that what we are seeing correctly corresponds with His Will. Then we must pray His Word. God's Word is His promise. Therefore, there is nothing that is said from God that will not occur. We can "want" whatever we "want", but what we "want" will never become reality if God's Word does seal the deal. You must use His Word to confirm your vision and pray over it as you expectantly wait for it to happen.
As you work through your vision boards and vision journals, one of the first tasks is to find a scripture that supports your vision. The practice of finding a scripture that supports your vision assists you in verifying that your vision is within God's Will. I recently received a question from one of my clients. She asked "How do I find the scripture that supports my vision?". The purpose of this blog is to help you find that scripture. Technology makes it very simple.
1. Pray for Understanding. Before taking any journey of applying scripture to your life take some time to pray for understanding. Pray that God reveal His plans to you through His Word and make it plain. Here is a simple pray you can use: "Lord, thank you so much for your Word. Thank you for giving me the freedom to learn your plan for my life. As I take this journey to understanding your vision for my life, please allow your Holy Spirit to work in me. Give me knowledge, understanding, and wisdom regarding your Word. Reveal your desires for me through your Word. Remove anything in me that is contrary to your Will. Amen.
2. Choose a noun, verb, or adjective word that encompasses the major topic of your vision. Some popular examples include money, family, purpose, gift, sex, marriage, friends, wisdom, knowledge, mercy, grace, hope, love, fear, adversity, tithing, women, men, children, food, sacrifice, obedience, endurance, disobedience, healing, body, spirit, thanks, test, peace, purity, growth, plans, promise, purpose, desire.
3. Go to a Bible Website and search for Bible keywords. Type in one of the words you chose above and scriptures that focus on that topic will appear.
Some good Bible Websites include: Bible Gateway (biblegateway.com), Bible Hub (biblehub.com), and You Version App (youversion.com)
Note: You can also go to the back of most Bibles, and find a "Dictionary Concordance". The "Dictionary Concordance" will have multiple key words and a list of scriptures that reference that key word.
4. Read each scripture that comes up in your search and decide which ones best match the topic of your vision.
5. Read the entire chapter that the scripture is within. This is extremely important. Every one scripture has a context around it. If you miss the context, you miss the full meaning of the scripture and often cause yourself misunderstanding what God's Word is saying. In order to keep yourself out of the trap of misunderstanding, read the entire chapter that the scripture is a part of. Reading the chapter may lead you to read more as well.
6. Allow God to reveal His plan through the scripture. You may understand immediately what God is saying to you or you may need to meditate on it for some time. Either way, give your Spirit time to understand what God is promising you in His Word and continue to pray for understanding.
7. Pray Again. Every ending of study in God's Word should end in prayer. Now you are praying that God's Word is performed in your life. You are building your pray with the scripture you found. For example, God said to Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:12 " "Good eyes! I'm sticking with you. I'll make every word I give you come true."
I can rewrite this verse as a prayer for myself. Here it is: "Lord, you are such a good father. You have given me a purpose and you promise to be with me always. Thank you for staying with me through the journey. You promised you would never leave me. You said every Word you have spoken over my life will come true. Give me courage and faith to walk this out with you. If there are any parts of me that do not believe, remove those parts from me. Giv eme all of you so that I can fulfill your will."
That's it. It's not so hard, right? You will truly enjoy taking some time to learn what God says about your visions. Once you know your visions are confirmed by God's Word, you can walk more confidently in pursuing them and having faith despite the obstacles that may come your way.
In order to help get you started I have included some of my favorite scriptures for each vision sphere from the "Wake Up and Live: 21 Day Vision Journal". All of the scriptures are from the New Living Translation. Feel free to message me if you need any help finding a scripture or understanding it.

"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow -- not event the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below--indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39
"We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are." Romans 3:22
"Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. "Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken." Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
"As the Scriptures say, 'A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.' Scriptures About Your Community

"Don't speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God's law. But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you. God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?" John 4:11-12
"God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have a gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen." 1 Peter 4:10-11

Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent.:" Hebrews 7:10-12

For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me." John 15:1-4
"Dear friends, don't be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up.
